My Choice Brought Life…

Who said facing temptation wouldn’t be hard?

I think that’s where our obedience comes in. Is it perfect obedience? For me the answer would be no.

I face things daily and sometimes I wonder why things are so hard for me to grasp. Is it the sin that lives in me or is it the way I grew accustomed to life around me.

No one said following Jesus would be easy. In fact, it seems to be the hardest thing to do sometimes. Not because I dont want to, but because we live in a fallen world where everything that is not necessarily the best has become the normal for most.

We all know the fundamentals of right and wrong. In our heart of hearts we know from a young age what feels like the right thing and what feels like the wrong thing.

Even as a young girl I could navigate through life figuring that out, but it was the sin in me that kept me following the wrong. I think the first time I ever faced a life changing decision of right and wrong was when I found out I was pregnant with my son at 15.

Everyone always wants to talk about how hard it is to be a young mom and how it can ruin your life. But does anyone ever talk about the pressure people (especially the adults in your life) put on you to have an abortion?

When I first found out I was pregnant, I was literally approached by most of the adults in my life everyday about making this my choice. People who think abortion is suitable sure do take the choice out of your life with the pressure they put you through. I only had 2 people tell me I had a choice. The doctor and my aunt.

When I tell you the pressure was on, it was literally everyday getting a phone call from someone. But once I was told that I had a choice, the relief in my heart changed. The first time I saw my son’s heartbeat on the ultrasound, I knew what my choice would be.

I knew I was young, but why would I? How could I? I just couldn’t bring myself to hurt this being inside of me. I think in those moments God was guiding me towards life because it was in those moments I realized I could never get an abortion.

This was the choice I chose. It was a hard decision, and yes my life was hard. In fact I never really had a chance to be anything else but a mom after that. I made horrible mistakes, said some unthinkable things, caused some mama trauma I’m sure, but my son who I gave life to is an amazing man now.

He has done more things in his years than I could have ever imagined. He has a heart that cares for others, he served his country, and he cares for the people he loves. I feel blessed to see him grow and I feel blessed that he was the first person who really showed me what love means.

I could never imagine how my life would be if I would have listened to those people. Maybe I wouldn’t have struggled, but my life with my son is more important to me than anything. With that being said the temptations in life from others and even in your own heart can lead to disappointment and heartbreak.

I faced many temptations over the years, some small, but this was the biggest. I’m glad I listened to God, I’m glad that my choice brought life into this world.
