Jesus Knows Best!

Stepping out in faith and trusting the one that created you should not be taken lightly.

In fact it is one of the most humbling experiences you can have. Why? Because it’s you a human being giving up control, turning a blind eye and trusting that someone you can’t see will guide you.

I’ve had many chances to do that, but today is a big one for me because it involves my finances. I’m trusting that God will provide for me and my family as I step down from my position as a bartender and step into an hourly position behind the counter serving food. I will go from getting paid every day, to getting paid every 2 weeks. I will give up the opportunity to make a couple hundred a shift to making maybe a hundred (depending on the hours I work that day) and with that I will have to work more hours to make decent wages.

Now anyone who works for tips, knows it can be a hit or miss, and most recently it’s been extremely slow on the shifts I usually work, so I’m not making enough money to survive. But the real honest to God reason why I’m choosing to step down is conviction. As I grow closer to God, serving alcohol regularly to people as a means of paying my bills does not line up with my values anymore. I’m not opposed to working events, or someone having an occasional drink, but serving the same people everyday as a means of survival doesn’t set right with me.

As I get to know my regulars, hear their stories, about them or their families I start to care. I can’t feel right as a former addict serving people something they think they need to feel better about life. So, I’m taking a leap of faith and trusting God will eventually provide me with a position where I can truly help others instead of feeding into their sins.

From here it might be a little rough financially, but I trust God will provide because he promises me he will all the time and so far I haven’t been let down. Now there may have been times I probably thought things would go differently, but when I take my self out of what I think I need, then I start to see what God deemed best for me, and you know what it works out better.

So, walk in faith my friend because the one who created you, knows what is best for you…and if you need him to carry you so you can get where you need to go, just ask!
