10:23

This past year I started stepping out into the writing world and trying to move towards getting my book published.

No one can ever prepare you for the journey you will go on when you decide to write a book. For me its been the most therapeutic experience especially because I’m writing about my life, but it has definitely taken a lot for me to get to a place where I feel comfortable enough to share the whole story.

What was important to me when writing was to make sure that everything I wrote was the most accurate. I’m speaking my truth by sharing my testimony, but I’m also representing God by speaking the truth about how much he has changed my life. So it has taken me a while to get to a point where I can feel good about what I wrote and to a place in my life, where I can really get out there and make difference.

Last week I went to an event where a lot of people in my writing community would be. Before going I had to think of a way I could explain what my story was about. It’s crazy because I spent 7 years on this book and couldn’t in my mind think of a good elevator speech. Like how can I fit my story in to 30 seconds?

But the more I thought about it, I kept going back to 10:23, which stands for Hebrews 10:23 “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering for he who promised is faithful.” This is the title of my book and my album, so of course this is the premise of what my story is about. Its about me seeing 10:23 everywhere throughout my life, but not realizing until years later when I found myself locked up behind prison walls that seeing this number was Gods way of reminding me that he is with me, guiding me, and that he promises to take care of me.

This number has completely changed my life, it has reminded me that nothing can be against me because God is faithful. It has taught me about obedience and having faith that God will provide. Even still to this day I see this number everywhere, but now when I see it I know that God is still there and he will see me through everything that I may face in life.
