Overcome
Imagine growing up and realizing that your whole childhood existence was a lie. That everyone who ever said they loved you, well didn’t really love you. That the family you thought you belonged to wasn’t even your real family. That most of them, not all of them, but most of them don’t even care if you live or die.
I’ve had people tell me they wish I was never born. I’ve had people tell me that my life was a mistake. I’ve had people tell me they hate me and that I’m pretty much the scum of the earth. Most of these words were said to me by my “family”.
You know what though, I’m better off without them. I will always love my family, but some people only need to be a part of your life for a season. I understand that more now that I’m older. Before I felt like my worth wasn’t much that mattered, but now I know that is a lie.
My Saviour loves me above all else, the one who gave up his life for me, the one that bears the scars of my sins, the one that created me in my mother’s womb before the harsh reality of heartache and sorrow tried to ruin my life. That is who I look to in my times of questioning my existence, the one I love more than anything and live my life for.
He keeps me going and He walks me through it all. Thank you Jesus for never giving up on me like most of my family did. You helped me overcome everything and you continue to help me every day.
