Fear

Original Date Written: 1/7/19

Fear you took away my ability to see

My ability to want or need

You shamed me and kept me down

Causing me to fall face-first on the ground

I know you’re around when my eyes get wide

My heart races fast deep inside

My hands get sweaty

And the world around me gets heavy

I feel I can’t handle it now

It’s all too much my head is swarming around

I don’t want fear to overtake me

The blood washes to my head, I can’t breathe

It takes me away

From what I can be

I want to bring God’s greatness

But here lately I’m hasty

I feel embarrassed, I feel shame

Not good enough, not worthy

They don’t want me

I need you, God now

Come inside me Holy spirit

As I drop to the ground

I ask you Jesus, to take this fear away

Keep it from my soul everyday

I don’t want it around I want to be free

From the bondage, it holds over me

You don’t own me fear

And when I know you’re near

I’m going to scream “GET OUT”

My Father in Heaven has me now

So goodbye, I’m done with you

I have purpose on Earth

I know the truth!

This poem was written while I was in jail waiting on my court date. This poem inspired me to write my song “Take this Fear Away”.
