I was born a sinner, the moment I opened my eyes

On a path of unrighteousness, beyond buried lies

My heart faded dark, poisonous words devoured my soul

Unloved, abandoned, everything out of my control

Words are powerful, changing people’s lives

Lifting them up in the sky, or even burying them alive

I will choose to love and change my old ways

Opening my eyes to see brighter days

Repentance rolls off my tongue of remorse felt so deep

“Create in me a clean heart oh God!” the words I would speak

Spoken from my mouth gave me a future I can see

As the clouds clear from the storm

I see the sun starts to peek over the mountains form

I feel the beaming warmth of your love

Falling from the heavens above

I was born a sinner, but now I live free

In God’s merciful grace, I’m strong enough to fight a new day

Why? Because Jesus gave up his life so I could be saved!
