“Waking up early to eat my breakfast, then I look around at everyone here wondering why I’m dealing with this mess. Having doubts, worries, and even fear. I see lost and broken souls trying to find a place in this world and one day make it home. I tremble at the thought of why I’m still here. But it’s going to be ok because God I know you got me you never left my side you got my attention and you opened up my eyes I pray to you daily cause I’m scared for my life and I don’t want to lose time but I know this isn’t mine, you put me here for a purpose to save someone’s life I may not understand it now but I trust you Lord, I trust in you! What the devil meant for destruction you saw so differently you saw a testimony to bring someone peace they can lock me up and throw away the key but I will suffer through this like Joseph who was before me because you love me Lord and I know you got me. The bad seems so ugly especially over time but the good is so beautiful renewing my whole mind. As I lay my head down and try to sleep my mind races with memories of the pain I feel it cuts so deep and then I look to you and you say child lift your head your story isn’t over yet.”

I wrote this on a scrap piece in jail, days after being arrested. As I slowly started to piece the words together, I would write what would become my first song “God, I Know You Got Me”
